Home Sellers Packs Back

Published / Last Updated on 24/11/2002

Just as we thought all had gone quiet on the sellers pack front, the subject rose again in the Queen's speech.  Introducing sellers packs was a Government idea originally, aimed at helping the home buying and selling processes.

Basically, sellers have to put a 'pack' together for potential buyers, including a questionnaire based on the property, details of a basic house survey and also certain guarantees.

The Council of Mortgage Lenders again responded with queries over costs of putting together a sellers pack.  It has been estimated to be between £400 and £700 and they feel it could put people off selling their homes.

The proposals have received mixed responses from mortgage lenders and estate agents but we will have to wait for the final proposals.
