Home information packs are to be phased in voluntarily ahead of their official launch date of June 2007. The move follows criticism from the Council of Mortgage Lenders that the government faced missing its launch date unless it published a detailed timetable.
There are also fears that the packs will create an increase in demand, as sellers try to finalise deals before they are introduced.
Our view
Let us hope this move will speed up the sales process, although we have our reservations.
