Home Improvements Are Big Spend

Home maintenance has been named as the biggest drain on finances for the retired with an estimated £5 billion a year spent on home improvements.  In their latest survey, Economic Lifestyle said the retired spent more than a fifth of their annual income on essential home maintenance.

Repairing and replacing windows was the single most expensive cost, followed by heating. 

Our view 

Whilst interest rates are higher and our jobs are less secure, people move less and improve their homes more.
