Greece New Prime Minister To Be Named.

George Papandreou has agreed to stand down and Greek leaders are due to agree a new prime minister to lead a unity government until elections are held, which could be on 19 February.

Possible names being considered are Lukas Papademos, a former deputy president of the European Central Bank, and Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos.  Once the new leader is named, President Karolos Papoulias will invite parties to join the new government and once the government has approved an EU bailout package, it is likely then that elections can be held.

The EU will not release any further funds to Greece until the new bailout deal has been approved.
