Government Withholding Care Money?

As many as 1000 elderly people might be losing out on vital benefits every week because of poorly trained government staff.  According to NHFA, the department of work and pensions is denying care home residents their £67 a week attendance allowance.

If the home’s fees are fully paid by the NHS, the resident does not qualify for the allowance, but the government is withholding it to everyone who receives a state contribution to the fees.

Our view

They have a point.  We suggest though that the law will be changed rather than giving people funds and paying for care.
