Government React To Pickering

Published / Last Updated on 18/07/2002

Following release of the Pickering review into pensions simplification, the Government have already started to voice their opinions.

Mr Pickering suggested that income from occupational (or company) pensions should not have to automatically increase every year whilst it is being paid.   Andrew Smith, Secretary of the Department for Work and Pensions said that the Government would look at the proposals but said "on first reading these proposals are not attractive".

With an immediate comment of negativity, at least this Pickering proposal may seem dead in the water.
