£30bn Plus Government Spending Economy Kickstart.

The government is set to announce a multi-billion pound investment programme designed at getting the economy moving.  Most of the money will come from the big British pension funds.

Various road schemes around Britain and rail lines in Newcastle and between Manchester and Leeds are thought to be among 40 projects that may receive help.

Danny Alexander, Chief Secretary to the Treasury has told BBC Breakfast, that he recently discovered that the Birmingham airport runway extension was paid for by the pension fund of Canadian teachers and Australian miners and he believes that British pension funds should be able to invest.
