April saw the biggest rise in a month for the FTSE 100 for the past five years.
With investors being positive about the Gulf War and the UK economy gaining in strength, investors saw returns over the month of some 8.65%.
Our view
This is not surprising given what was happening around the World in April. However, FTSE has stalled a little since then - we assume with people taking profits. We expect more instability over the next few months - although over the longer term, and for those who are prepared to wait, the current intrinsic value of the UK market makes it an excellent time to invest.
