Flexible Working Takes Off

Published / Last Updated on 17/08/2005

According to the most recent Workplace Employment Relations Survey, flexible working hours are taking the UK by storm.

The number of employers that allow term-time working has doubled to just short of 30% of employers surveyed, as has the number of employees that work from home.  Flexi-time and job sharing has also become more popular with employers.

Whilst it is generally larger employers that can offer more flexible hours to employees, the benefits to business can be huge.  It is a well-known fact that parents with young children have to work around their home commitments but their skills base is wide ranging.

Employers have woken up to the fact that part-time or flexible working can pay dividends in terms of the quality of staff and the outlook for their businesses.
