Financial Sector Grows Despite Economic Slowdown

According to the Confederation of British Industry and accountants Pricewaterhouse Coopers, the slowdown in the economy has had little impact in the financial services sector.

Their quarterly financial services survey has revealed a fast growing sector in the three months to September compared to last year when business volumes in the financial services - including banks, building societies, traders, fund managers, insurance companies and brokers - were at there lowest since December 1992.  Of the 89 companies questioned, 25% more took on staff, rather than reduced staff numbers, and 29% overall planned to take on new staff in the next quarter.
