A group of Equitable Life policyholders that were set to take their case to the High Court have apparently settled.
Whilst Equitable Life has confirmed the settlement without the need for High Court action, no further comments were made.
According to the lawyers for the 4 policyholders, each person was fully compensated by Equitable Life.
Our View
The whole issue of this case was in relation to confidentiality and whether or not the legal advisers involved could advise other policyholders. It would appear that because the case did not go to the High Court to argue the confidentiality issue, the legal advisers are free to speak to other policyholders.
