Employment Legislation Cut

Published / Last Updated on 02/02/2004

UK employment law is going through a change, but not in terms of the laws themselves.   In an attempt to assist businesses, the Government has decided to only release new employment legislation twice per year.

The dates will be 6 April and 1 October each year.  The 6 April announcement will cover all of the new tax year changes, whereas the 1 October announcement will concentrate on the revised national minimum wage.

Our View

Having two set dates each year will really help businesses keep on top of employment legislation without being bogged down for most of the year.  It should also cut down the administration involved and the whole process should become more streamlined.  Companies will be able to deal with six months worth of legislation in one go.
