According to research undertaken by the insurer AXA, whilst employers are in favour of providing pensions for employees, they are concerned at the relative cost on their businesses.
Out of the 200 businesses that were questioned in this survey, almost all said that their pension contributions on behalf of employees would remain at the same level.
Our View
Small and medium sized employers that actually pay into pensions for employees are a rarity. The smaller the employer, the more unlikely a payment is. For those people with employers that do pay into pensions for them, make the most of it and make your own contributions too, if you can afford it.
There are huge costs associated with running a business and employees sometimes do not see the generosity of pension contributions made by employers.
