Dixons and Carphone Warehouse Merger.

Ahead of the merger between Dixons and Carphone Warehouse, they have both posted profits. The planned merger was granted the go ahead on Wednesday by the European Commission.

Profits from both companies were:

  • Dixons pre-tax profits of £133m up to April.
  • Carphone Warehouse pre-tax profits of £67m up to March.

Dixon’s owns more than 500 Curry’s and PC World stores across the UK and Carphone Warehouse has 2,000 stores in Europe. The new merged firm will be known as Dixons Carphone and is thought increase jobs while making no redundancies.

Dixon’s has seen an increase in TV sales ahead of the World Cup which has helped contribute to its profits.
