Compulsory Pension Membership For Employees

Published / Last Updated on 01/03/2005

The Financial Services Authority is supporting proposals for automatic enrolment in company pension schemes, as long as it is consistent with consumer protection and staff can opt out.  They added that they could see no obvious barriers in the FSA rules, that could get in the way of automatic enrolment in personal or stakeholder pensions, and are happy to consult on any changes in the rules that need to be made.

Great.  Let's just go back to laws that we had in place in the 80's!  They were fine then.  Why did we have to change them in the first place.  More red tape.
