Company Car Tax Up

Published / Last Updated on 06/04/2002

Company car drivers need to beware from the 6 April 2002 - your costs could rise significantly.

Currently, company cars are taxed on mileage related bands and discounts are given for bigger mileage.  The more business miles you drive, the bigger your discount.  From 6 April, the rules are changing and your company car tax will be based on its carbon dioxide emissions.  This is calculated in grams per kilometre as a percentage of the cars list price.

More tax will therefore be paid by people with uneconomical company cars who clock up high mileage. Time to change your car?
