An insurance broker has accused High Street mortgage lenders of offering inferior protection cover to customers on the back of their big brands. The broker claims that many of the High Street lenders offer cover that is more expensive than that available through Independent Financial Advisers together with worse cover.
Halifax and Nationwide were singled out as being two of the offenders. They each commented that they knew their products were not the cheapest. Neither mentioned whether or not they believed their cover to be inferior.
