Business Telephone Preference Service

Published / Last Updated on 15/07/2004

The Telephone Preference Service was launched on 25 June for businesses. The Direct Marketing Association runs the Telephone Preference Service which helps to stop the public and new businesses receiving sales and marketing telephone calls.

Registration is free and it takes upto 28 days for your company details to be logged.  For more information for both businesses and members of the public, visit the information commissioner.

Our View

Speaking from our own experience, we receive at least five sales and marketing calls each business day.  Whilst everyone has to make money, many of the callers expect you to drop everything, talk to them and then get offended when you say no.   The people making these calls will need to ensure their telephone lists are completely up to date and screened against the Telephone Preference Service lists, to avoid fines of upto £5,000.
