Boom In Housing Market Cools Down

Published / Last Updated on 08/08/2002

Property prices are rising more gradually according to estate agent Rightmove.  It says the average asking price rose to £155,000 at the end of May, before falling to £149,000 at the start of June. The Golden Jubilee celebrations and the World Cup were hinted as being contributory factors. During July the average asking price rose between £152,000 and £155,000. However, prices have risen more gradually in some recent months, which is a reflection on the cooling down of the boom market.
