
Benefit Cap Results In More Workers.
More than 3,000 people have found work since the introduction of the governments new welfare cap. New figures from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) found that since the new £26,000 a year cap came into effect, 8,040 households have been affected by the cap.
40% of those hit by the cap found employment.
The cap which has changed people’s lifestyles meant that no one household could claim more than £26,000pa, this is the average national wage.
The scheme was first tested in four areas of London and then introduced for the rest of the UK. 36,471 households had their payments capped, 17,102 of these were in the London area.
This scheme was to ensure fairness among the welfare system and ministers are happy that most claimants were changing their lifestyle.
