Banks Must Cancel Big Summer Party.

The British Bankers’ Association (BBA) has today told it's members that the banking industry needs “to think long and hard about its collective behaviour”, as it cancelled its yearly party in the summer because of the growing pressure on the UK banking industry.  The summer party should have taken place on Wednesday the 4th of July.

An email sent by Angela Knight (BBA chief executive) explained to all the members that under the current circumstances that it would be wrong to continue with the party.

Ashley Clark's view:

Bankers should definitely cancel any summer party until matters are resolved.  Bankers found guilty of committing the interest rate fixing should be jailed.  Will this happen? Probably not given that over 20% of the UK's total tax revenue is paid by the Banks. However cancelling the Banks big summer party was a good decision.
