Bank Guarantee Increase To £50,000

Gordon Brown has confirmed plans to introduce laws to raise the current compensation threshold from £35,000 to £50,000, for savings deposits in banks and building societies.

The Government are still in consultation with the industry regulator, the Financial Services Authority, about the changes but it is thought that the changes will be included in the new Banking Act.
