Bank Card Fraud Highest Since 2006.
The UK Cards Association have warned of a series of bank card scams, after data showed that fraud from stolen card data is at its highest level since 2006. People are being distracted at cash points leading to card details being stolen.
The data collected showed that the amount that came from stolen or lost cards came to £58.9m, this was the largest figure since 2006.
The UK Cards Association warned that most people were being targeted while at bars, shops or cash points.
People are said to be distracted as the theft occurs often happening so quick that people will think the card machine has taken their card. A distraction that has been seen recently will involve the criminal to throw a piece of paper in front of the victim while asking for directions.
