Ban for High Card Payment Charges.
Plans to ban retailers from putting surprise or stupidly high charges on people using debit or credit cards have been given the go ahead by the government.
A recommendation by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) last december prompted the government to plan the ban. Airlines, theatres and other shops will also have to make sure that their credit/debit card charges are displayed clearly before any purchase has been made.
Aswell as this ban on high card payment charges by the government, they are also planning to limit charges that can be put on so that retailers can't make profit from them.
