8 to 1 Vote: Keep Interest Rates Same

When the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee met earlier this month, there was an 8 to 1 majority vote to keep interest rates at the current level.

Our view

Many are suggesting we need further interest rate cuts.  We suggest that whilst the public and business probably need a rate cut, the economy does not.  Inflation is growing and long tern economic stability needs lower inflation.  We suggest rates may rise rather than fall.
