84% Of Women Want To Leave Finance

Published / Last Updated on 10/01/2006

A recent report from Hudson has found that 84% of professional women in banking and the financial services industry are seriously considering leaving their professions. They found that most women who were polled are disappointed with their career progress and a further 43% said they they did not expect to be working full time by the year 2010. Two thirds of employers in banking and financial services recognised that women are much more likely than men to pursue alternative ways of progressing in their careers. Seven out of ten employers admitted that if more women left, it would have a large impact on their business and their ability to recruit sufficient staff.

Our view:

The finance industry whilst offering a semi-secure career, is not the most rewarding industry to be involved in.  Sometimes it is a thankless, demanding occupation. The UK has a growing 'complaints' culture and finance appears to bear the brunt.  Get out of the industry we say!!
