75% Have Not Made Wills

Published / Last Updated on 10/04/2005

More than three quarters of adults in the UK have not made a will, or reviewed it after a change in their circumstances, which means that the wrong people could inherit their estate.

Research by Standard Life has shown that 57% of people have not drawn up a will, while 19% have not adjusted their will since changes in their circumstances.   Around 44% of the people without a will would be encouraged to draw one up if they understood the implications of not having one.

Figures have shown that around 68,000 die in testate every year.
