A survey by Mortgage Strategy has found that 70% of people would lie about their income to get onto the property ladder if they felt that they could get away with it!
Since regulation, most lenders of self-certification mortgages have put in extra checks to make sure that the individuals income is in line with their occupation and ensure that people don't lie.
