6.7 Million Women Not Saving For Retirement

Published / Last Updated on 09/07/2007

Research by Maria Miller, shadow minister for work and pensions has found that the number of women who are not saving towards their retirement has increased by nearly 400,000 to 6.7 million, compared with five years ago.

More than half of the women surveyed, 51 per cent, have not got any pension provision.

Our view

It is surprising how the gap for pension provision for men and women has grown. It also reinforces how this and future Governments must get State Pension, the new National Pensions Savings Scheme, due in 4 years, and general financial awareness right.
