19,000 Shops Closed This Year
A report on the BBC has suggested that 12,000 independent retailers plus 7,000 branches of major chain stores have closed in the last 12 months.
The BBC’s source is a company called the Local Data Company who say that cities in the north plus chains such as Woolworth’s have given worrying figures.
It is not just the north though. Margate, in Kent, is the worst town with 25% of stores closing.
