Halifax Back With Pay_Outs For Borrowers

Published / Last Updated on 04/03/2002

Following the previous ruling by the Financial Ombudsman Service on dual standard variable rates for borrowers, Halifax have lost their appeal and now seem to be taking the ˜Nationwide" stance.   Halifax has said that they will refund approximately 10,000 borrowers and give them compensation for inconvenience suffered.  The refunds will amount to around £350 and compensation around £150.

Goodwill gestures are also on the way for around 20,000 other customers who asked to be transferred to the lower standard variable rates after the 1st February 2002 deadline.  Although they are not entitled to refunds, Halifax is offering £100.Previous dual rate items.
