Unum, specialist health and protection provider have launched a new menu style Critical Illness Protection Policy designed to give people choice.
Critical Illness Protection is generally available from many providers. However, if you have already suffered a serious illness such as a Heart Attack or life threatening cancer then the chances of obtaining this cover were remote to say the least.
Many providers would generally refuse, point blank, to offer cover or would apply very hefty premium increases to offer the cover. A limited few will offer cover excluding the previous illness.
In a unique approach, Unum have come up with a solution, for those people who are desperate to obtain cover say for Heart Attack or disablement but cannot in view of previous illnesses.
They have launched a menu based three tier system based upon tiers of life-threatening, disabling and traumatic. Thus for example, if you have suffered let's say cervical cancer, you may still obtain cover for Critical Illnesses, excluding this, but covering you for things like skin cancer and more.
