The government’s Furlough scheme for employee and employer support ends today.

In addition, the 2nd phase of the Stamp Duty Holiday Small tapering Extension with 0% stamp duty on properties up to £250,000 also ends today following the reduction of the stamp duty holiday threshold from £500,000 down to £250,000 on 30/06/2021.

The £20 per week additional universal tax credit also ends next week on 06/10/2021 putting pressure on poorer households.

It is time for us all to stand on our own two feet.  Most people should be back at work now but there will be businesses that struggle to recover from the pandemic as well as changes to our work, living patterns and buying habits.  Sadly, many businesses will fail.

It is going to be tough for us all: reduced benefits, increase fuel, gas and electricity prices, increased food prices as well as shortages both now and up to Christmas.  Start planning now and tighten your belts.
