No Need To Tell Insurance Companies About Health Changes

Published / Last Updated on 06/12/2007

Underwriting Changes

Legal & General recently scrapped the need for policy applicants to notify them of any changes in health between completion of the application and the policy commencing.  AXA is now looking at making the change too.

The aim is to cut down additional administration where most declarations made to providers are just confirmation that no changes have occurred.

Our view

This a brave and excellent move by Legal and General.  It will reduce their adminstration time as well as offering clients the real comfort of knowing that as soon as they apply for a policy, there are no further non-disclosure problems in connection with their health.
