Published / Last Updated on 19/02/2014

Company pension funds can use a maximum of 20% to buy shares in multiple companies that you own. However, they are only allowed to own a maximum of 5% per company.A private pension is allowed to invest 100% of the fund in private company shares. If you are a controlling director of the business (remember 20% of your and connected party shares) then the 5% rule also applies to private pensions and not 100%.
